Replicating 'Ghost' Player Mechanic (Placeholder)

During the lockdown, gamers around the world finally had the time to finish their ever-increasing video game collection, including myself. A game that I quite enjoyed is Celeste, a fast-paced platformer that challenges you to time your moves at the right time or else you have to do the whole part of the level again. One specific gameplay mechanic did catch my attention and made me question how they programmed it, and that is a 'ghost' that copies the player's movements so that the player cannot go back through the exact path they went through for a short period of time.

<Insert example>

'Ghost' players have existed for quite some time in video games, especially in racing games, where exact movements of a previous player are saved and recreated to simulate a real enemy. However, I didn't really pay much attention to them until now, because of newly formed habits to always study mechanics from other games and think about how they are programmed.

So I made an attempt to recreate a 'ghost' player mechanic and Stencyl, and possibly try to make a game out of it.
